What Are Rollators?
Rollators are very similar in structure to walkers, but they have distinctive differences. Rollators have four wheels, and while some walkers are designed with wheels as well, they tend to have two in the front with two rubber feet in the back. Walkers are very simple and plain.
Rollators have a more modern-looking design. The biggest difference between the two is that a rollator has a seat. Few walkers have seats, and the ones that do are very much “hospital grade” rather than modern. Walker seats flip up, while rollator seats stay in place and usually feature comfort padding.
Along with the seat on a rollator is a backrest. The backrest provides support when the user is sitting down.
Attached to the handles of a rollator are brakes. These brakes lock the wheels in place when the rollator is either not being used or is being used as a seat. This is an excellent safety measure that keeps users from rolling away and falling when they sit down.
Most rollators also come with an attached basket used to carry personal items.
What Are Some Other Accessories I Can Buy?
We have gone over a few of the best accessories you can use with your rollator, but there are still others out there that can make your rollator perfect for you.
Believe it or not, you can purchase a cup holder for your rollator. The cupholders available typically snap right onto your rollator frame. Additionally, some cupholders also have a slot to hold a cane.
In today’s day and age, technology is thriving. For that reason, you can buy a cell phone mount for your rollator. These mounts are universal, so you can adjust it to fit any rollator or walker you own. Then, you simply insert your phone!
Although many rollators already come with padded seats, some people like to purchase their own preferred padding. There are several options with different materials for seat padding. And like seat padding, you can also buy customized hand grips for your handlebars.
Personalize Your Experience
Although many seniors end up using the same kinds of equipment, that doesn’t mean every person is the same. It’s always good to know what kind of accessories are available for your healthcare products. Whether practical or personal, accessories can add a boost of confidence and a sense of personality to the tools you use to get around. Make your rollator your own and the best fit for you.
