Tempur-Pedic is a luxury brand of mattresses and mattress accessories, including adjustable bed frames. The company’s frames are more expensive than other brands, but they are also built to last and offer a variety of features.
Tempur-Pedic has four different adjustable frames. All are power bases, and all come with a wireless remote, custom adjustable head and foot elevations, and zero-gravity options.
Some higher-end frames offer massage features, under-bed lighting, voice activation, snore detection, and smart elements.
Tempur-Pedic adjustable frames can be used with any mattress brand as long as it is constructed with soft and flexible materials such as memory foam, latex foam, hybrid, or airbed.
Like Tempur-Pedic mattresses, all the company’s adjustable bed frames come with free “white glove” delivery, meaning the bed frame will be delivered to your door, unpacked, and set up in the room of your choosing and your old frame hauled away if you choose.
There is no return policy on adjustable bed frames, but the bases come with a generous 25-year limited warranty.

Many mattress manufacturers now sell adjustable bed frames, including the well-known luxury brand Tempur-Pedic. The company has four powered adjustable bed models, including two recently released “smart” models.
Considering that Tempur-Pedic’s bed frames were named one of AgingInPlace.org’s Best Adjustable Beds, we decided to take a closer look at these products, pitting each model to a side-by-side comparison. Here’s what we learned.
What Is Tempur-Pedic?
Tempur-Pedic is a well-known luxury brand of mattresses, pillows, and other bedding accessories. Tempur-Pedic was originally founded in 1992. Before that, the company put nearly a decade of research and development into a product formulation of foam to be used by NASA to relieve astronauts of G-forces experienced during liftoff. That pressure-relieving foam—viscoelastic foam—became the company’s trademark mattress material. In 2013, Sealy Corporation acquired Tempur-Pedic International, and the name was changed to Tempur-Sealy International.

The Ease Power Base is Tempur-Pedic’s entry-level adjustable bed model. It’s available in all standard sizes from twin to california king, including split versions of the california king and standard king. Although it’s short on features, this model is a great option for someone looking for an excellent quality and easy-to-use adjustable base with customizable positioning.
A wireless remote powers the Ease base, allowing easy adjustment of head and foot positions individually. This model also has two preset positions found on the remote. The middle button between the head and foot adjustments returns the bed to a flat position, and the “zero-g” button automatically raises the head and foot slightly for the zero-gravity position, which is designed to mimic a feeling of weightlessness.
Although the bed and the remote are straightforward and easy to use, some owners find the remote to be small and sometimes difficult to hold. Especially at night, this remote can be easily lost or dropped due to its small size. Users recommend making sure you have an easily accessible table, surface, or holder for the remote to make it easy to locate and avoid misplacement. In the event of the remote getting lost or tangled in bedding, its child-lock feature may be helpful to avoid unwanted or accidental adjustments, though the child-lock must be activated by the user.
The Ergo Power Base is Tempur-Pedic’s most popular adjustable bed frame. It has all the features of the classic Ease model, but it’s been upgraded with a few features that enhance its functionality and safety. This model offers under-bed lighting, which is helpful for visibility when moving around or getting into and out of bed at night. USB ports on either side of the frame provide charging capability for multiple devices, eliminating the need for additional wall outlets and reducing potentially hazardous cord clutter around the bed.
A major upgrade found in this model is the addition of a massage feature. Massage is divided into a head and foot zone which operate independently, and the feature has three modes and two intensity settings. The Tempur-Ergo Power Base also introduces “quiet mode,” which allows you to raise the head of the bed about 12 degrees to alleviate sinus and mouth pressure and reduce snoring.
All features offered on the Tempur-Ergo Power base are controlled by the wireless remote, and this remote is more substantial than the small and sleek version that comes with the Ease power base. Though there are more controls, the size and color contrast on this remote control make it easier to hold and navigate through features. The massage and positioning options are clearly marked with arrows and images, indicating up-and-down controls for both the head and foot of the bed, as well as massage mode and intensity for each massage zone.
The Ergo power base also introduces customizable one-touch buttons. The zero gravity, TV, and anti-snore functions each have their own button on the remote but can be reprogrammed if the user prefers a slightly modified version of the position. Reprogramming is simple. After making adjustments and finding your ideal position for zero gravity, TV, or anti-snore, simply hold the corresponding button for four seconds until the remote backlight flashes twice to confirm reprogramming.
This model also has a button for programming a separate preset position, ideal for remembering another favorite position for sleeping, reading, or relaxing. Other one-touch buttons on the remote include the under-bed lighting and flat positioning, though these buttons are not programmable.

The Ergo Smart Base takes the basic functionality of the Ergo and adds smart features to take your sleep experience to the next level. Smart features are controlled and communicated through Tempur-Pedic’s easy-to-use app, Sleeptracker-AI. The base pairs with your mobile device through Wi-Fi to connect to the app. This gives you the ability to control the base with your voice through smart-home managers Hey Google or Alexa. It’s important to note that in order to use smart functions and connect to the app, a Wi-Fi connection must be available.
Smart features available with the Tempur-Ergo Smart Base enhance both the quality of your sleep and ease of use of the adjustable base. To enable heart rate, breathing, and movement tracking, this base comes with sensors that transmit information to the Sleeptracker-AI app. With this information, the app offers insight and recommendations to maximize sleep quality and reduce snoring, discomfort, and tossing and turning. For a more immediate adjustment to enhance sleep quality, this model’s sensors are able to detect snoring in real time and automatically adjust the bed into an anti-snore (or “quiet mode”) position.
While all functions and feedback are able to be controlled, programmed, and accessed through the app on your mobile device, the Ergo Smart Base also comes with a wireless remote. This remote is the same as the one used for the Ergo Power Base and easily controls all functions and positioning.

The Ergo Extend Base is the company’s top-of-the-line model, loaded with the most features and functions. Adding to the already-packed list of capabilities in the Ergo Smart Base, the Ergo Extend Base adds two valuable functions—PerfectSeat and Pillow Tilt.
The PerfectSeat function works by expanding the space between two sections in the middle of the base, providing more space between the head and the foot. This additional separation allows you to relax in an ergonomic position that is more natural than head and foot elevation alone. By adding a joint near the top of the base, this model is also able to offer the “Pillow Tilt” function which tilts just the top of the base. The tilt is ideal for people who like to read or watch TV in bed—by allowing acute adjustment to your head position through the base and mattress, you eliminate the need for unnecessary neck and head muscle use and can alleviate neck and eye strain.
The Ergo Extend Smart base uses the same remote as the Ergo and Ergo Smart bases, and the SmartSeat and Pillow Tilt adjustments occur automatically during positioning for optimum comfort every time.

Things to Consider When Shopping for a Tempur-Pedic Adjustable Bed
Here are some Tempur-Pedic bed frame requirements and features to consider before buying a bed:
Price: Tempur-Pedic is considered a luxury brand, which extends to their adjustable beds. These frames are more expensive, but you get what you pay for as far as more features. However, the higher-end frame can run as much, if not more than, the mattress itself. Depending on the size and style of mattress, your entire adjustable bed can ring in upward of $10,000 or more.
Weight capacity: Tempur-Pedic power bed frames can support up to 650 pounds distributed evenly across the mattress. However, the frames cannot support or lift this weight in the head or foot sections alone. These issues likely stem from misunderstanding of the warranty. While it states the warranty is for 25 years, full coverage of parts and service is only available for the first three years. After year three, coverage downgrades to parts only, and the owner is responsible for shipping and labor costs associated with the repair. After year five, only the steel frame is under warranty, and a replacement will be issued in the event of defective workmanship or materials.
Mattress compatibility: Tempur-Pedic adjustable bed frames can work with any soft mattress, including memory foam, latex foam, hybrid, and airbeds.
